been customary in the past to appoint the official members of the Legislative Council, who do not sit ex officio, during their tenure of office in the Colony only. Through an overeight, however, this was not done in the case of Mr. Irving's appointment. He has now been asked to send in his resignation as soon as possible.

Mr. T. L. Perkins, formerly Director of Public Works, was appointed to be a member of noth Executive and Legislative Councile during his tenure of office as Director of Public Works and on his departure on leave of absence prior to retirement, Mr. H. T. Jackman was appointed and subsequently confirmed (See Colonial Office despatch No.413 of 13th July, 1923) as a member of both Councils during the absence on leave of Mr. T. L. Perkins. I regret to find that the provisional appointment of Mr. H. T. Creasy to be a member of Executive and Legislative Councils, which was made on the 30th August, 1923, has not been reported to you and I have accordingly to request His Majesty's confirmation

as from that date.
